Educational values play a crucial role in the development of a person’s personality as they help shape an individual’s beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions. Through values, individuals learn to appreciate the importance of honesty, integrity, kindness, compassion, respect, and other positive traits. These values help foster a sense of responsibility, self-discipline, and resilience, which are essential for personal growth and development. They also promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, which are vital for success in a changing world. Educational values instill a sense of purpose and direction in an individual’s life and help develop a strong moral compass.
In general, values are essential for the overall development of the individual and help create a more just, equitable and compassionate society.
Educational values work to spare society from value conflict. They are a focus of interest for teachers and politicians. They are a community issue through which the fabric of social relations can be preserved. The Values Program seeks to support positive behavior and dialogue and to strengthen the social fabric; by fortifying and establishing positive educational values, and leading dialogue between children and their peers and teachers in schools, and with their families at home to enhance the positive environment and preserve the individual and collective identity of the Jerusalemite community, and contribute to improving academic achievement and educational excellence in schools.
